Indiana MENTOR Celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act
31 July 2015
July 26, 2015 marked the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Enacted to eliminate discrimination and barriers for individuals with disabilities, the ADA has done much to improve quality of life, increase opportunities and enable individuals with disabilities to participate more fully in community life. The ADA prohibits discrimination and ensures equal rights in employment, school, transportation and other areas of community life.
“Indiana MENTOR is honored to be a part of the 25th anniversary celebration,” said Dan Mohnke, Executive Director of Indiana MENTOR’s services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. “Much has been accomplished over the past two and a half decades to ensure that individuals with disabilities have equal opportunities to live, work and learn. But with all of this progress, it is still the responsibility of each of us to safeguard those rights. Indiana MENTOR remains committed to improving quality of life for the people we serve and helping make the communities in which we work more inclusive and full of opportunity.”
